Should I freeze my sperm?

We’ve all heard about egg freezing, but should men consider freezing their sperm?  Sperm production continues right through a man’s life, but some do run out. This may be because they started with a very low number, have an inherited condition or need to undergo surgery or cancer treatments. Sometimes men regret having a vasectomy, so if they aren’t sure they can freeze sperm before having it done.

Does Smoking affect male fertility?

Smoking damages sperm. It may reduce sperm number and function and also the genetic material (DNA) used to create a baby.

Sperm are produced continually, so cleaning up your act by stopping smoking (and other drugs and excessive alcohol) may improve the sperm’s ability to achieve a healthy pregnancy.

If you are trying to conceive a baby, stop smoking, or seek assistance from your doctor to help you quit.

As a man, when should I have my fertility checked out?

It takes an egg and sperm to make a baby, and in 50% of infertility cases there is a partial or full male-factor problem. It is a good idea to get a simple sperm test arranged through your GP which can tell straight away if there’s a problem with your swimmers.

Do you have any spare swimmers?

Did you know there’s a massive waiting list of single and gay women, and women whose partners have sperm issues, all waiting for donor sperm.

If you would like to consider being a sperm donor we would love to hear from you. Give the team at No 1 Fertility a call.
