Why egg Freeze?

Egg Freezing

Whether you're focusing on your career, not ready to start a family, currently single or concerned about fertility issues later in life, egg freezing offers numerous benefits:

Increasing Success Rates with Modern Techniques

Advancements in egg-freezing technologies have improved success rates significantly. Vitrification, a rapid freezing process, ensures better preservation of eggs, leading to higher chances of success when you are ready to use them. Frozen eggs, when thawed, behave just like fresh eggs, but, their success is at the age of when they were frozen, not your current age.

Preserve Fertility for the Future

Egg freezing allows you to store your healthy eggs at a younger age, when your fertility is at its peak. This process can help protect your reproductive potential as your biological clock ticks.

Greater Reproductive Flexibility

Egg freezing offers flexibility for women who want to delay motherhood for personal, professional, or medical reasons. It allows you to start a family when you're ready, on your terms.

Peace of Mind

Knowing that your eggs are preserved gives many women peace of mind as they navigate their career or life choices. This reduces the pressure of a "biological deadline" and allows you to make decisions about family planning with less stress.

Our lab has many safety steps to provide ongoing peace of mind.

Options for Single Parenthood or LGBTQ+ Families

Egg freezing can be an option for women considering single parenthood later in life or for LGBTQ+ individuals or couples who want to preserve their fertility options for future family-building.

Egg freezing is a powerful tool in family planning, providing women with greater freedom, peace of mind, and reproductive control. Whether you're delaying pregnancy or protecting fertility for medical reasons, it's a modern solution that adapts to your unique life plans.

what is ‘elective’ egg freezing?

This is egg freezing in the absence of a medical disorder which may impair your current or future fertility.

Elective egg freezing is regarded by Medicare just like cosmetic surgery, and does not attract any rebates, health insurance coverage or PBS medicine cover - this means it is completely ‘out of pocket’.

What is not so clear is the definition of disorders which may impair your current or future fertility. Cancer which will remove your ovaries is completely obvious, but a history of endometriosis, cysts, PCOS and possibly even personal/social factors may make you eligible for medical egg freezing (which means there will be Medicare rebates, health insurance coverage and much cheaper medications).

These are issues we always discuss in your egg freezing consultation.
