Why Freeze sperm?

Sperm Freezing

Currently, the most common reason for sperm freezing is to use in planned IVF and also for men about to undergo surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy that is likely to damage their sperm production in the future.

I would encourage men who have ever had testicular surgery, childhood illnesses such as mumps, known issues such as hydrocoele and varicocele, to get a sperm check.

Often, if there is a low sperm count, it will continually deteriorate. Identifying this and sperm freezing early may make fertility issues in the future much easier to treat.

Sperm Freezing and Steroid Use

I see many men who are taking anabolic steroids they source in gyms. I am completely non-judgemental about this, however, I want to strongly advise men that the ‘expert’ at the gym with their regimens of multiple different steroids and ‘treatments’ such as HCG injections are often wrong and can cause lifelong sperm/fertility issues. Come and get yourself checked out.

Preserve Fertility for the Future

Sperm freezing allows you to store your healthy sperm at a younger age, when your fertility is at its peak. This process can help protect your reproductive potential as your biological clock ticks.

We are happy to arrange simple blood and urine tests and appropriate scans before your appointment. In many cases, I can then give you a diagnosis and treatment options at your first visit. You are still welcome to attend even if you would prefer to have a consultation before any testing.

During the consultation, it may become apparent that further blood, urine or other testing is required to fully evaluate your situation.
